The home tutor (parent or governess) is responsible for the daily delivery of the education program, supervision and guidance of students.
Mount Isa School of the Air offers home tutors the opportunity to participate in a home tutor seminar which provides strategies for teaching the curriculum materials. This seminar is consolidated by a governess in-service day later in the year.

Regional support services
Remote Area Family Services (RAFS)
RAFS is a mobile early childhood development service
provided to children aged birth to 5 years old and to their families in rural
and remote parts of Queensland and the Barkly Tablelands who are unable to
access mainstream Early Childhood Education and Care services. RAFS conducts
playgroups, home visits and attends community events within their service area.
There are five RAFS teams located across Queensland; Mount Isa, North
Queensland, Emerald, Charleville and Longreach. Mount Isa RAFS also assists at
some of our activity days and minischools.

The Remote Family Care Service is the only
service of its kind in Queensland, providing short-term early learning programs
for children aged up to five who, due to where they live, cannot access
mainstream early childcare services. You may be entitled to government
assistance to access this service. The aim of the program is to provide outback
children with an opportunity to engage in an early learning program for up to
three weeks, delivered in the nurturing environment of their own home. As long
as at least one of your children is under the age of five, we can provide a
qualified, early childhood educator to come to you. The service is available
across regional, rural and remote Queensland
Toy library
The north west has a regional toy library which operates from Mount Isa City Council Library. They have an extensive list of equipment that is available for all ages. Contact the toy library on (07) 4743 3555
Centrelink - assistance for isolated children scheme
This scheme helps families whose children do not hve reasonable daily access to a government school. Contact Centrelink on 132 318. Our parent liaison officer is available to provide information about applications for this scheme.
Computer subsidy - isolated students
Students enrolled due to geographical isolate or for approved medical reasons will receive a computer and internet subsidy after the first six months of enrolment. by providing this subsidy, the school expects that all students should have access to an internet enabled computer.
Volunteers for Isolated Student Education (VISE)
A new Charity BushED.org.au has been formed and started this year with a view to operating in a similar manner as the Volunteers for Isolated Student Education (VISE)
